As tourism has expanded around the world, the classic American road trip has lost none of its appeal. There are a number of reasons why this classic travelling experience has endured – for those less intrepid travellers, it is perhaps the biggest adventure possible where the comforts of the Western world are always within reach. It also allows licence to roam around incredible scenery – The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, the Rockies, to name but a few examples Read the rest of this entry…

While there are similarities between Americans and the rest of the world, there are certain items that retain a strictly American flair and knowledge to them. For those that aren’t American these things are amusing and entertaining. I’ve found a few to help the rest of the world out.
All Americans cling to their right to free speech which is in their Constitution. They all recognize certain pop culture figures such as David Letterman, Saturday Night Live, Mickey Mouse, Sesame Read the rest of this entry…

If you are in search of a terrific sunny destination that won’t break the bank you will love Sanibel Island, Florida. This is an amazing location with a great number of attractions and a price tag that fits into the budgets of today. If you are interested in basking in the sun, collecting shells along the seashore and spending great quality time with your family, this is the only destination for you.

What a nutty place Amsterdam is. I can only assume there is nowhere else like it in the world because it is so crazy. Amsterdam has a split personality. During the day it is a serene, quiet and small city with some picturesque streets by the canals. At night, this small city transforms into an action packed party paradise. You cannot move for the bright lights, bars and open late cafes.
It might be a bit harsh, but forgivable, to Read the rest of this entry…

I was recently doing an internship at a locum doctors job in Japan, which led me to realize the stark contrast of Japanese culture and how it differs greatly to what we know in the United States. Two examples of Japanese culture is bathing and bowing. These two practices in Japan differ greatly from most other places in the world.
Bathing in Japan is very important to the routine of the average person in Japan. Japanese people will scrub their Read the rest of this entry…

When I travel, I prefer to be on the ground or at sea. I love train journeys, and I love travelling by ship. I think when you fly, you get to your destination so fast that it never really feels like you have arrived somewhere new. Also, you miss out on incredible scenery. On a train or a boat, often the journeys can be long, but you can walk around and entertain yourself and, of course, you get to see Read the rest of this entry…

While Vietnam perhaps isn’t at the top of everyone’s list of places to visit, if you’re looking for somewhere that’s warm and sunny, and that has an amazing culture to boot, it might be somewhere you’d like to check out.
The temperatures do vary between north and south Vietnam, with temperatures in Ho Chi Minh (also known as Saigon) tending to be higher than those in Hanoi in the north. My experience of Ho Chi Minh was that it was Read the rest of this entry…

As I travelled through Europe, I hit all the major cities and countries such as Paris; France, Berlin; Germany, Rome and Venice; Italy and Vienna; Austria. However, as we travelled around we thought we would try to get to some unheard of countries and see what it was like.
The first one we thought of was Slovenia. We saw its location between Italy and Croatia and though that the weather has to be great and the landscapes have be just Read the rest of this entry…

Stumbling into the last open restaurant on the street, our arrival was greeted with surprise and appreciation. The waitress showed us to a table, although aside from the manager counting the takings, the restaurant was deserted. We looked across at the fully-stocked, admittedly very appealing buffet, next to a faded picture of a distant mountain range. I felt the familiar pangs of sympathy I experienced wandering into an empty country pub back in the
I think the post on this blog about miniature guns is quite worrying. If you read it and have a look at the attached link to ‘BoingBoing’ then you will see what I mean.
These guns are so small that they could easily be concealed. I don’t think that it would be very difficult for someone to smuggle one onto a plane. That doesn’t even bear thinking about.
I am sure that whoever made these is incredibly clever; the engineering Read the rest of this entry…
